I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today.

This famous speech 'I have a dream' shows that the black people want to be free from racism. This special part of the speech is the part of 'I have a dream' which shows that the goal of this speech is to stop racism and be treated equally. At this time of america, racism was heating up. More people were fighting for racism and to racism. There were a lot of black people participating the act to stop racism, but lack of white people participated to stop racism. Despite of being refused by white people, it was declared to stop racism in 1960s.

Force of unknown

Dream travels along the dark sea,

Coated with an unknown force,

Glides on the sea, carried by the wind, not aware of where to reach

As you can see, the poem is written regarding the theme 'dream'. I chose to make the theme of the poem 'dream' because, I wanted to show details about the dream. The message of the theme is that dream takes you to the world that is unknown but is meaning something. As you can notice in the book, Santiago was led to his dream by a dream. This can represent that dating back to years ago, dream was received as a meaning. Today, dreams are not really representing something unknown or new to the world. To sum up, I think that dream has enough worth to be studied and identified further.

How are you a participant in your destiny?

Pablo Picasso
Risk-taking, creative and curious best describes me. Risk-taking fits me because, I take risks to make some decisions and to help others sometimes. Creating and figuring out is one of the place I am quite good at. Curiosity describes me well because, i always want to try new things. These are the traits that I think it fits me the best.
“And, when you want something, the entire universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Santiago, reached his treasure in the place where he has started the journey. Santiago was able to complete his journey and reach his treasure because he was insightful, passionate and risk-taking.

The reader knows that Santiago was insightful just by looking at his choices. He saw through that the dream was not just a dream and blows it away. Also in the book it says “if I became a monster today, and decided to kill them, one by one, they would become aware only after most of the flock had been slaughtered, thought the boy.” This part of the book shows that he knows a lot about sheep and what he thinks about it. By being a shepherd, he has learned a lot and can see through that sheep has no idea and only want food and water. Also in the book it said, “But, most important, he was able everyday to live out his dreams”. This gives me an idea that he made decisions that helped him and what he desired so. Also in the book “the boy thought back to that conversation with his father, and felt happy;” this means that he doesn’t regret the decision he made to be a shepherd and is happy about it. Before he made the decision to follow his dream, he also said “it’s the possibility having a dream come true that makes life interesting, he thought”

The boy was passionate about his dream to find the treasure. Further, He knew he had and try everything before he could grasp the treasure in his hands. First, you can see that he was passionate when he went to find the old woman and ask her support about the dream and the treasure. When the woman said dreams are language of the god, but if he speaks in the soul of the world the old woman said only you can understand it. The boy took a chance and kept these words in his heart. He’s meaning of the treasure was never bent even if what happened. When he got robbed and beaten, with nothing left, he could have just left back to his homeland. “People learn, early in their lives, what is their reason for being.”

The trait ‘brave’ fits Santiago perfectly. When Santiago took a step to go to Egypt, this was not an easy decision to make. He followed his heart despite of his father and the god’s advice. “The boy felt the pang in his heart, thinking about the merchant’s daughter.” There was a dilemma between rather to stay or leave for his treasure. He made the decision to leave following his dream and destiny. He knew that he would have to give up on something to earn what you desire. With nothing, he started his journey to his destiny. Because he took the risk, he was guided his treasure.

The destiny was earned by Santiago’s heart by following these traits. Paulo Coelho sends a message in here that to achieve your destiny is earned by your heart not searched. As the quote said, he reached his destiny, just by his own heart and the universe helping him. Santiago’s insightful, passion, and risk-taking have led him to completing his Journey and reaching his treasure.
